You'll need the fine-grained GitHub token Standard Kernel issued you privately. Paste it into the first command below and run it, then run the second command:
export GH_AUTH_TOKEN=<paste your token>
Careful, after you click the copy button you will not be able to see it again. Do NOT share this token with anybody else.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StandardKernel/tracer-install/main/install.sh | bash
This installs sk-trace and sk-tracer-viz as plain commands on your $PATH.
Finally, log in with Github...
sk-trace login
...and confirm that sk-trace whoami prints your GitHub username before tracing.
sk-trace whoami
sk-trace -- <your command> [args...]
This auto-uploads the trace to Standard Kernel's ingestion server in the background afterward, for kernel-source recovery.
After the workload exits, sk-trace uploads the trace and prints a tracer-viz URL. Open that URL in your browser, or go to the Traces view and click View in tracer-viz once processing is ready.
Example output
Trace uploaded: f25813a4-d5d8-5d34-a16c-36a5bf7dc3e3 View in tracer-viz: https://tracer.standardkernel.app/admin/?trace_id=f25813a4-d5d8-5d34-a16c-36a5bf7dc3e3
If the viewer link is still preparing, leave the page open and use the progress shown in the trace row footer.
From the Traces view footer, open the processed trace and click Request admin review when you want Standard Kernel to look at it:
Local tracer-viz is still available when you want to inspect a trace file on the machine that captured it:
sk-tracer-viz share
To process traces locally instead of using the server-generated viewer JSON:
sk-tracer-viz process --latest
We will review it and get back to you with feedback or next steps.
We will add you if you are supposed to be added. If you are an SKC employee who has not yet been added please Slack Jess.
